To commemorate the Beijing Normal University alumni Ms Wei Qingxian, her two sons, Dr Eric Xu Yong and Mr Xu Yan set up the Beijing Normal University Wei Qingxian Education Charitable Fund. The donation was made through the Xu Family Charitable Foundation. The fund promotes charitable giving in the education sector and some of the work that it has supported include kindergarten teacher training, financial assistance to underprivileged students, support for vulnerable students, health education for teachers and providing pension to teachers.
