• Research Project on Venture Philanthropy’s SPPP Model

Partner Organization: Minzu University of China’s Foundation Research Centre
Project Duration: Oct 2015 - Oct 2016
Project Status: Completed
Venture philanthropy is a method of using venture capital instruments for charitable causes, providing social purpose organizations financial and non-financial support in order to achieve a greater social effect. This new concept of venture philanthropy is born of contemporary philanthropic values and has shown great potential for development. Despite differences in application and implementation within China and overseas, empirical evidence and theoretical reflections indicate that there are several obstacles that require a stronger social network before it can be overcome. However, there are still many theoretical operational and mechanism gaps in the social-public-private-partnership (SPPP) model.
This project focuses on the implementation of venture philanthropy, where cross organization co-ordination was considered as the horizontal lines and multi-party participation centred around venture philanthropy was the theme in order to design different SPPP models. The different models were analysed to determine the most suitable conditions and operational mechanism. The analysis provided effective venture philanthropy policy recommendations. This not only represented significant developments in venture philanthropy and the SPPP model but also provided a response to the concerns of the society and recommendations to facilitate the transfer of government functions and the development of social organizations. This project was organized in partnership with Minzu University of China’s Foundation Research Centre.
