About the Founder

Dr Yong (Eric) Xu earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in biology at Peking University (1982-1989).He received his Ph.D. at Texas A&M University and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California Berkeley (1994-1996).

From 1996-1999, Dr Xu worked at biotech start-up companies in California. Later that year, Dr Xu and Robin Li co-founded Baidu (NASDAQ: BIDU) in the Bay Area.  As the Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, he was instrumental in the company’s early years from it's inception until IPO in 2005.

Dr Xu is the founder and chairman of Yifang Capital, an investment holding company engaged in venture capital investment and asset management.  Apart from The Xu Family Charitable Foundation, he has also founded the Beijing Yifang Foundation and the Henan Zhenyu Education Foundation in China.

Sunny first worked as an assistant to the president of Yifang Capital Group. In 2013, she took on the role of Programmes Officer, responsible for the administration and management of the foundation’s projects. Despite working for many years at the foundation, Sunny continues to be rejuvenated by the innovative and forward-looking projects that the foundation supports. When she is not at work, she enjoys travelling, reading and meeting new people.

Cui Qingjun

Project Communications Officer, Beijing Yifang Foundation

Prior to joining the foundation, Qing Jun worked for 6 years at the Chang Ai Media Project (studio). At the foundation, he handles the design aspect of all the projects. In his free time, Qing Jun loves to exercise and travelling to new places to experience different cultures which he uses as inspiration for his work. He finds his work in the foundation to be invaluable and meaningful.

Wang Jun

Programmes Officer, Beijing Yifang Foundation

Wang Jun is no stranger to the public welfare sector, having worked at the China Charity Information Centre and the China Foundation Centre. In her current role, she is responsible for the funding of research programmes relating to education, elderly and the investment management of social enterprises. Wang Jun is motivated by the positive change that her work brings to the society. To relax, she enjoys reading and dabbling in programming.

Programmes Officer, Xu Family Charitable Foundation

Fei started her career in banking, first at Private Wealth Management in Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC, then Bank of Communications. She has been working in the family office since 2012, helping to manage its financial assets. She is responsible for the Foundation’s asset management, transactions and company secretarial works. Fei is enthusiastic about portfolio management and analysis. She loves reading and travelling.
