This forum fills a gap by providing research support and knowledge transfer through the demonstration effect to young scholars by bringing together Chinese researchers in social enterprise, impact investment, venture philanthropy and charity marketization. Equipping young scholars with the necessary academic and practical skills helps to develop the next generation of talent and researchers in this field.

Yifang Foundation funded the first forum where around forty experts and post-graduates from more than twenty top universities and research institutions discussed issues surrounding social entrepreneurship. The editors of the Foreign Economics & Management Journal and the R&D Management Journal were also invited to participate in the forum. The first social entrepreneurship academic community was set up to promote knowledge exchange and growth of the young scholars.
