• Case Study on Social Enterprise Development in China-Korea-Japan

Partner Organization: Institute of the China-Korea-Japan Social Economy at the University of International Business and Economics

Project Duration: Nov 2017 - Dec 2019

Project Status: Completed

The development of social enterprises in China was still at its early stages and much can be done to improve the existing companies. Three key areas for growth were highlighted: (1) raise awareness in essential developmental and implementation strategies (2) improve the understanding of social enterprises (3) create a social enterprise development model unique to China. Hence this project between the Beijing Yifang Foundation and the Institute of the China-Korea-Japan Social Economy at the University of International Business and Economics was initiated to learn from case studies of existing models in Korea and Japan. By examining the key success factors, valuable takeaways, opportunities and challenges, the study was able to identify medium to long term trends across the three countries and the future prospects of social enterprises. The findings from the study contributed towards formulating the development strategy of social enterprises in China.
